        By using PDF Private, you agree to these terms. Please read them carefully.
        PDF Private provides client-side tools only. We do not access, process, store, or transmit your files.
        You are solely responsible for your files, your device, and how you use this service.
    

1. Service Description

PDF Private ("the Service", "we", "us") provides free, browser-based tools for processing PDF files. All file processing is performed locally on your device using JavaScript and WebAssembly technologies running within your web browser.

The Service consists solely of static web pages and client-side code. We do not operate any server-side file processing, file storage, or file transmission infrastructure. We have no ability to access, view, intercept, or retrieve any file you process using our tools.

2. No Access to Your Files

PDF Private does not and cannot access your files.

When you use any tool on this website, your files are loaded into your browser's local memory and processed entirely on your own device. No file data is sent to our servers or any third party through our Service. We have no upload endpoints, no file storage systems, and no server-side processing capabilities.

Accordingly, PDF Private bears no responsibility whatsoever for the contents, security, confidentiality, integrity, or handling of any files you process using this Service. Any file processing you perform is performed by you, on your device, using open-source client-side code that we make available for your convenience.

3. User Responsibilities

You are solely responsible for:

Ensuring you have the legal right to process any files you use with this Service.
The security of your own device, operating system, browser, browser extensions, and network environment.
Maintaining your own backups of any files before processing them.
Verifying that any output produced by the tools is accurate, complete, and suitable for your intended purpose.
Compliance with all applicable laws and regulations in your jurisdiction.

You acknowledge that the security and privacy of your files depends entirely on factors within your own control, including but not limited to: your device security, browser configuration, installed extensions, network security, and physical access to your device.

4. No Warranty

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, STATUTORY, OR OTHERWISE. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, RELIABILITY, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND ANY WARRANTIES ARISING FROM COURSE OF DEALING OR USAGE OF TRADE.

Without limiting the foregoing, we make no warranty that:

The tools will produce accurate, complete, or error-free results.
The Service will be available, uninterrupted, or free of defects.
The client-side code is free of bugs, vulnerabilities, or security issues.
The tools will be compatible with your specific browser, device, or operating system.
The output files will be suitable for any particular purpose, including legal, regulatory, financial, or medical use.

5. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, PDF PRIVATE AND ITS OWNERS, OPERATORS, AFFILIATES, AND CONTRIBUTORS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

Loss of data, files, or documents.
Corruption or degradation of file quality.
Unauthorised access to files on your device by third parties.
Data breaches or privacy incidents arising from your device, browser, extensions, network, or any other aspect of your computing environment.
Loss of profits, revenue, business, or anticipated savings.
Any damages arising from your reliance on the output of our tools.

IN NO EVENT SHALL OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE USE OF THIS SERVICE EXCEED FIFTY EUROS (€50) OR THE AMOUNT YOU HAVE PAID TO USE THE SERVICE IN THE PRECEDING 12 MONTHS, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.

BECAUSE THE SERVICE PROCESSES FILES EXCLUSIVELY ON YOUR DEVICE AND WE HAVE NO ACCESS TO YOUR FILES, WE CANNOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY LOSS, DISCLOSURE, OR COMPROMISE OF FILE CONTENTS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.

6. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless PDF Private and its owners, operators, and contributors from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from or related to:

Your use of the Service.
Your breach of these Terms.
Your violation of any applicable law or regulation.
Any claim by a third party related to files you have processed using the Service.
Any claim that your use of the Service infringed the rights of a third party.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to:

Process files that you do not have the legal right to access or modify.
Infringe the intellectual property or privacy rights of any third party.
Process content that is illegal in your jurisdiction.
Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the source code of the Service beyond what is made publicly available.
Interfere with or disrupt the availability of the Service for other users.

8. Intellectual Property

All website content, branding, design, and code (excluding open-source libraries used under their respective licences) are owned by PDF Private or its licensors. You retain full ownership of any files you process using the Service. We claim no rights over your files or any output generated by the tools.

9. Availability and Changes

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service (or any part of it) at any time without notice. We are not obligated to maintain, support, or update the Service. We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated revision date on this page. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

10. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from or relating to these Terms or your use of the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, unless mandatory law in your jurisdiction provides otherwise.

11. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.

12. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and PDF Private regarding your use of the Service.
